Weeping willow

Weeping willows hold a special place in many hearts. They resemble tears born from challenges and adversity, symbolizing grief, loss, and change. Their drooping branches create a sorrowful image, like tears falling toward the earth. However, even as their leaves fall, they retain their brilliance—clinging to color until the very end. In their nature lies a quiet strength: the power of adaptability, of bending without breaking. The weeping willow reminds us that hardship is inevitable, but also that “weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning” (Psalm 30:5).

It was beneath a weeping willow tree that I made a life-changing decision—saying “yes” to the love of my life. As someone from Ecuador who began a new journey in the United States, I faced many challenges in my late twenties, love being one of them. In that season, I surrendered my desires to God, trusting that He is enough and that Jesus is my greatest certainty. I wept through that decision, yet it led me to a season of rejoicing in the Lord’s provision and love.

At 29 years old, I found love—the kind of love that could only have been written by a loving Father. When I began walking with a changed heart, no longer waiting but fully living, God revealed Himself to me through my husband. From the moment we met, I felt seen and loved by God. Our love was made even more meaningful because it was rooted in Him.

I pray that we may all learn to rejoice in every weeping season of our lives. There is a unique beauty found in hearts that have known both sorrow and joy.
